I went to a re-enactment that was an inspirational event, which brought to life the lives of the men and women of the armed forces during WW2.
Having heard one of the re-enactors tell me that because he had taken on the role of a German soldier he was accused of being a Nazi and a fascist I felt the urge to create something which showed the importance of what is essentially for them a hobby and not an expression of political ideals.
With an abundance of knowledge and stories both from personal and family experiences these people showed a dedication to bringing history to life. They do not glorify war nor subscribe to any political agenda.
I feel that if schools were allowed to attend these events as part of the curriculum it would show an insight that no book or film could ever match. It may also go some way to showing that something like this should never be allowed to happen again.
I have created this poster to look like the ones used during the war in style and colour. Click on it to see more images from the day.
